Real Estate Program Event
On March 15, students in the B.S. in Real Estate & Economic Development met with members of the program’s Advisory Board, the professional association known as Commercial Real Estate Women, and other real estate leaders to learn about the various career opportunities in real estate. Representatives from investment, finance, law, brokerage, economic development, property management, development, and architecture explained their careers and backgrounds to groups of students who moved from table to table in a “speed-networking” exercise.
More than 50 students and 20 professionals participated in the event. Follow-up comments described UB’s students as engaged and full of good questions; the participating students said they enjoyed learning about professions they were not familiar with and wanted to know when the event can be repeated. The meeting was preceded by a talk from Eric Turner, B.S. ’01, and vice president of Turner Development Group, on how the various professionals in the room have worked with his firm on development projects.
